چکیده مقاله:
Surface and groundwater pollution is a serious threat to human health and aquatic ecosystems due to the increase in heavy metal concentrations, is a serious threat to human health and aquatic ecosystems, and this issue has become an important environmental and health challenge in the current era. This review article comprehensively examines the application of natural zeolites in the remediation of heavy metal-contaminated water. Natural zeolites are introduced as effective adsorbents for the removal of heavy metals from water sources due to their diverse physicochemical properties and high ion exchange capacity. Given the intensification of toxic effects and persistence of these metals, it is essential to identify effective and environmentally sustainable methods for the eradication of these contaminants from water sources. Natural zeolites have attracted great attention from researchers due to their abundance, low cost, and environmental compatibility. This paper also reviews chemical methods for modifying zeolites to increase the efficiency of heavy metal adsorption and analyzes in detail the operating parameters affecting the adsorption process, including isotopes and kinetics. Finally, by summarizing the findings of various studies, the efficiency of natural zeolites in treating heavy metal contaminated waters is evaluated and future research directions in this area are determined. This paper studies the potential of natural zeolites as sustainable options for the remediation of contaminated waters and emphasizes the importance of continuing research in this field.
