چکیده مقاله:
The Iranian New Wave, a revolutionary movement in cinema that began in the late ۱۹۵۰s and ۱۹۶۰s, has had a profound impact on global narrative and visual storytelling. Emerging from a socio-political backdrop characterized by the ۱۹۷۹ Islamic Revolution, the movement rejected traditional filmmaking practices in favor of minimalist aesthetics, social realism, and a deep engagement with Iranian culture and politics. Filmmakers such as Abbas Kiarostami, Dariush Mehrjui, and Jafar Panahi challenged the norms of Iranian cinema by integrating political and social themes while maintaining a distinctive visual style marked by long takes, non-linear narratives, and the blending of fiction and documentary. This article explores the global influence of Iranian New Wave cinema, focusing on its impact on narrative structures, visual aesthetics, and thematic content in contemporary global filmmaking. It examines how Iranian filmmakers, constrained by state censorship and political repression, innovated with cinematic language to create films that resonated both domestically and internationally. Through a close analysis of key films, the study highlights how Iranian New Wave techniques have been adopted and adapted by filmmakers across the world, particularly in regions such as Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Furthermore, the article investigates the enduring legacy of Iranian New Wave cinema, exploring how its influence has shaped the portrayal of social justice, individual versus society, and the representation of marginalized voices in contemporary cinema. By tracing the movement’s impact on global cinema, this study sheds light on how Iranian New Wave cinema continues to shape film language, aesthetic practices, and cultural storytelling worldwide.
