چکیده مقاله:
Aims: This study aimed to systematically review clinical trials of herbal products on the severity of menstrual bleeding.
Information & Methods: In this review, all articles that employed clinical trial methods in the field of “effectiveness of herbal compounds in the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding” were searched without a time limit until October ۲۰۲۴. Persian and English sources, as well as search engines including PubMed, Cochrane, Web of Science, Scopus, Magiran, and SID Iranmedex, were reviewed. Keywords based on MeSH, which included menstrual bleeding, herbal medicine, complementary medicine, and alternative care, were used for the search. The AND and OR operators were utilized in the search. These databases were searched without a time limit until October ۲۰۲۴.
Findings: Out of ۲۸,۱۰۸ articles, ۱۶ articles were reviewed. Most of the herbs examined reduced menstrual bleeding. The results of several studies on the effects of ginger, chamomile, and fennel in reducing menstrual bleeding were consistent.
Conclusion: The medicinal products prepared in all studies were reported to be effective in reducing menstrual bleeding. Due to the insufficient number of articles on the herbs reviewed, further studies with different forms and doses are necessary to achieve reliable results and determine the effective dose and form of these herbs.
