Efficacy of the Treatment Based on Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) on the Cognitive Regulation of Emotion in Women with Glass Abuse in Arak, Iran

This study was conducted with aimed of determining the effect of treatment based on acceptance and commitment (ACT) on the cognitive regulation of emotion in women with glass abuse in Arak, Iran. The research design was a design with pre-test and post-test with the control group. The statistical population of this research included all the women with glass abuse in Arak and by using snowball sampling method ۳۲ individuals were chosen as the research sample. This selected sample was divided into two experimental (۱۷ patients) and control groups (n = ۱۵) and participated in this study. The instrument used in this study was the questionnaire of cognitive regulation of emotion by Gernifsky (۲۰۰۱). The members of the experimental were under a therapy program for ۱۲ sessions of ۹۰-minutes and the control group received no treatment. The results showed that treatment based on the acceptance and commitment is effective on regulation of the cognitive emotion. In analyzing the sub-tests of the test of regulation of cognitive emotion, psychotherapy was conducted, in the sub-tests of acceptance, positive concentration, re-concentration, reevaluation, blaming others has been effective and has led to the greater regularity and increase of items capacity in these areas but sub- tests of blame himself, rumination, acceptance, achieve good prospect, catastrophizing has not been effective.
