چکیده مقاله:
Developing students’ speaking proficiency has long been recognized as one of the most challenging yet essential goals in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. The ability to communicate effectively in spoken English determines not only learners’ linguistic competence but also their confidence, social participation, and academic achievement. English teachers play a central role in shaping this ability through their instructional practices, feedback styles, and classroom environment. This paper explores the multifaceted role of English teachers in promoting speaking skills among learners. It highlights the importance of teacher-student interaction, the use of communicative and task-based teaching methods, the integration of technology, and the creation of a supportive and anxiety-free atmosphere. Furthermore, it discusses how teachers’ attitudes, language proficiency, and motivational strategies significantly affect students’ willingness to communicate. The findings of previous studies indicate that teachers who use interactive and learner-centered approaches enhance students’ fluency, accuracy, and communicative confidence. Therefore, teacher education programs must prioritize developing teachers’ pedagogical and intercultural competence to improve students’ oral communication skills in diverse educational contexts. Keywords: Speaking skills, EFL teachers, communication, motivation, classroom interaction
