چکیده مقاله:
Helicobacter pylori is a Gram-negative, microaerophilic bacterium that colonizes the human gastric mucosa and is associated with a range of gastrointestinal pathologies, including chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric malignancies. Although conventional antibiotic-based regimens remain the mainstay of treatment, the increasing prevalence of antimicrobial resistance particularly to clarithromycin, metronidazole, and levofloxacin has markedly reduced therapeutic success rates. In light of this challenge, there is a growing interest in exploring alternative, non-antibiotic treatment modalities. This review provides an overview of recent developments in novel therapeutic strategies, including phytomedicines, nanotechnology-based approaches, antimicrobial photodynamic therapy, DNA vaccines, probiotics, and bacteriophage therapy. These emerging interventions not only demonstrate considerable antimicrobial efficacy but also offer potential advantages in addressing the escalating problem of antibiotic resistance. Collectively, they represent promising adjuncts or alternatives to conventional therapies, with the potential to enhance the management and eradication of H. pylori infections.
