چکیده مقاله:

Graphene oxide (GO) with porous structure has attracted a great attention owing to its large surface area, low toxicity, water solubility, and photothermal properties. GO with a two-dimensional structure provides possibility of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents encapsulation. We investigated MRI contrast enhancement property of Gd۳+/GO/alginate nanocomposite in our previous study. The present study aimed to investigate the fluorescence imaging ability of the nanocomposite. We prepared Gd۳+/GO/alginate nanocomposite using sonochemical-assisted freeze drying method. XRD, TEM, SEM, and MTT tests were performed to determine the structure, morphology, size, and cytotoxicity of the nanocomposite. Fluorescence spectrometry was carried out to analyze fluorescence property. TEM and SEM images showed that the sheet size of the nanocomposite and its average thickness were ۱۰۰ and three nm, respectively. MTT results indicated cytocompatibility of the nanocomposite. Gd۳+/GO/alginate showed a broad emission band appeared between ۴۰۰-۸۰۰ nm with excitation wavelength of ۲۸۰-۶۵۰ nm. As conclusion, Gd۳+/GO/alginate nanocomposite is a good potential candidate for fluorescence imaging. Since the nanocomposite has the ability to act as an MRI T۱ contrast agent based on our previous study, it can be considered as a bimodal contrast agent for MRI/fluorescence imaging.
