چکیده مقاله:

Zeolite adsorbents are used to remove mercaptans from natural gas, gasoline, and wastewater to prevent odors, improve fuel quality, and avoid pollution. Zeolites are effective at removing mercaptans because of their unique microporous structure, which allows them to selectively adsorb these smelly substances. The adsorption occurs through micropore filling and chemical bonding. Some zeolites can also filter out larger molecules and interact with mercaptans through π-π interactions. Zeolites have different types that work well for various applications. For instance, ۱۳X zeolite is used to remove water and hydrogen sulfide (H۲S) from natural gas. H-ZSM-۵ can convert methyl mercaptan to hydrocarbons, and copper-loaded ZSM-۵ can effectively remove methyl mercaptan and be regenerated by heat. Recent research focuses on enhancing their efficiency through metal doping and creating composite materials. Doping zeolites with metals like copper, iron, or silver can enhance adsorption and photocatalytic degradation capabilities.
