Application of Artificial Intelligence in Early Detection and Management of Sepsis in Emergency Departments: A Literature Review

In my thesis, I explore the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the early detection and management of sepsis within emergency departments. Sepsis remains a critical challenge due to its high prevalence and the difficulties associated with timely diagnosis and treatment. This literature review examines current approaches to utilizing machine learning and deep learning techniques for identifying sepsis, as well as predictive analytics and decision support systems for effective management. By analyzing recent studies and successful case implementations, I demonstrate that AI can significantly enhance sepsis outcomes. Furthermore, I investigate future directions, such as emerging AI technologies and the integration of these solutions into clinical workflows, while addressing ethical and regulatory concerns. Overall, my findings underscore the promise of AI in transforming sepsis care and highlight the necessity for ongoing research and collaboration between AI experts and healthcare professionals.
