Congestion is a fundamental problem in wireless sensor networks, which has a direct impact on the efficiency and application of quality of service parameters in wireless sensor networks. Two types of congestion can occur in sensor networks. The first type is node-level congestion. It is caused by buffer overflow in the node and can cause packet corruption and increase queuing delay. Packet corruption not only reduces the reliability and quality of service application, but also can waste the limited energy of the node and reduce link utilization. At each sensor node, buffer overflow may occur when the packet arrival rate exceeds the packet service rate. This is more likely to occur in sensor nodes close to the sink node. Recently, with the advances made in the design of congested circuits and wireless communications, a special type of wireless networks called wireless sensor networks has attracted the attention of experts from various industries and researchers from universities. The operation, applications and limitations of these networks are something that few people know about anymore. The main limitations of these types of networks include limited energy consumption, radio range, memory and low processing power. With the increase in the use of these types of networks, the number of sensor nodes in the network has increased to increase the level of mastery over the environment and improve reliability, which causes excessive data traffic on the paths leading to the base node. High data traffic, in addition to increasing energy consumption, causes delays in sending data and, consequently, a decrease in the rate of packets delivered to the destination. Therefore, providing a method to reduce congestion in sensor nodes increases the rate of data sent to the base station and reduces network traffic.
