This study evaluated the effects of emulsifiable dormant oil and citronella oil each at a concentration of ۰.۷%, pyriproxyfen insecticide at ۰.۲۵, ۰.۵, and ۰.۷ per thousand, combinations of dormant oil + pyriproxyfen (۰.۲۵, ۰.۵, and ۰.۷ per thousand), and citronella oil + pyriproxyfen (۰.۲۵, ۰.۵, and ۰.۷ per thousand), along with water (as control), were evaluated on Unaspis euonymi, one of the major pests of boxwood shrubs. For each treatment, ۶ branches were randomly sampled at intervals of one day before, and ۳, ۷, and ۱۴ days after spraying. The number of live insects on the upper ۲ cm of each branch was counted. Raw data averages were converted into mortality percentages using the Henderson-Tilton formula, and means were compared using Tukey's test at the ۵% level. Results showed that ۳ days after spraying, the highest and lowest mortality rates of the scale insect were recorded in treatments with ۰.۷% dormant oil (۷۳.۲۴%) and ۰.۲۵ per thousand pyriproxyfen (۲۶.۲%), respectively. Seven days after spraying, the combination of ۰.۷ per thousand pyriproxyfen + ۰.۷% dormant oil resulted in ۸۱.۲۲% mortality on boxwood scales, representing the highest effectiveness. The combination of pyriproxyfen + ۰.۷% citronella oil also showed ۷۱.۴۱% mortality, indicating high efficacy compared to other treatments. Overall, treatments combining oils with pyriproxyfen had higher mortality rates, especially ۰.۷% dormant oil + pyriproxyfen, while pyriproxyfen alone had the least effect. The results indicate that pyriproxyfen, when combined with oils, can be effectively used in integrated management programs against Unaspis euonymi.
