Digital transformation and its role on innovation, a bibliometric review

The rise of digital technologies, platforms, and infrastructures has significantly reshaped the concept of innovation. Research exploring the intersection of digital transformation and innovation has grown substantially in recent years. This study aims to review these scholarly efforts in the domain of digital transformation and innovation. The study employs a bibliometric approach, utilizing data from the Web of Science database and VOSviewer software. The study analyzes research based on publication year, keyword clustering, citation counts, articles, authors, and countries. Results indicate a steady increase in the number of articles and citations related to digital transformation and innovation over time. The findings suggest that digital transformation occurs within the context of Industry ۴.۰, with innovation considered a core element. The study concludes by proposing four future research directions for scholars.
