KIT-۵, as a three-dimensional mesoporous silica with high porosity, has attracted significant attention in the oil and gas sector in recent years. The synthesis of KIT-۵ is generally achieved using non-ionic block copolymers, allowing precise control over pore size and wall thickness. Surface modification and loading of active metals onto KIT-۵ enhance catalytic activity in hydrocracking, hydrogenation, and hydrocarbon conversion processes. Industrial applications of KIT-۵ indicate that this material not only serves as an efficient catalyst support in petroleum and gas processing but also improves catalyst performance and longevity. This comprehensive review addresses the synthesis methods, structural and surface properties, and industrial applications of KIT-۵ in the oil and gas sector, highlighting its advantages and limitations across various processes.
