چکیده مقاله:

Modern alkylation technologies are reshaping the landscape of gasoline production by addressing the dual demands of high-octane performance and low environmental impact. Traditional alkylation methods, primarily sulfuric and hydrofluoric acid-based, while effective, pose significant safety and environmental challenges. The need for safer, more sustainable, and regulation-compliant processes has catalyzed the development and adoption of innovative alkylation technologies, including ionic liquid and solid acid catalyst systems. This article explores the fundamentals of alkylation in refining, focusing on how it contributes to gasoline quality, particularly through octane enhancement and sulfur reduction. It compares legacy systems with cutting-edge solutions, highlighting how modern methods offer improved process safety, lower emissions, and reduced operating costs. Additionally, the article investigates the impact of regulatory pressure, technological evolution, and market demands on the refining industry's shift toward cleaner alkylate production. By examining real-world applications and industry case studies, it illustrates how refiners can transition to next-generation alkylation systems to meet both performance expectations and global fuel standards.
