چکیده مقاله:

Navigating ethical boundaries in nursing requires balancing the professional responsibilities of nurses with the rights and needs of patients, especially in conditions where personal beliefs, cultural backgrounds, or the nature of healthcare decisions conflict with professional obligations. This challenge is compounded by the unique dynamics of the nurse-patient relationship, demanding for a balance between professionalism and empathy. Ethical challenges in nursing often arise from situations where patients or their families must make life-or-death decisions, when patients refuse treatment, or when nursing duties conflict with the cultural or religious beliefs of the nurse or patient. Additionally, issues such as inadequate nursing skills and staffing can further complicate these ethical considerations. Determination of boundaries in caring relationships is essential to protect nurses and patients as valuable human beings and to promote and maintain their status. Therefore, the nature and potential negative effects of care relationships and ethical boundaries need careful consideration and investigation. The main purpose of navigating ethical boundaries in nursing, specifically addressing the question 'Crossing Boundaries—Violation or Obligation?' involves exploring the delicate balance between providing compassionate care and maintaining professional integrity. This exploration is crucial due to the inherent challenges in defining and managing boundaries within the nurse-patient relationship. The focus is on understanding when and why boundaries might be crossed, the potential implications of such crossings, and how to navigate these situations ethically and professionally.
