چکیده مقاله:

Retinol, a vitamin A derivative, is well known for its anti-aging benefits in cosmetic products. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of retinol's chemical structure, mechanisms of action, therapeutic applications, and efficacy in treating various skin concerns. Retinol's conjugated side chain, polar terminal end, and cyclohexenyl ring are among its structural features that are essential to its stability, reactivity, and interaction with skin cells. Retinol affects skin physiology mechanistically by binding to retinoic acid receptors (RARs), which trigger gene transcription that increases collagen synthesis, lowers inflammation, and improves skin suppleness. Although retinol has many advantages, it can also have side effects as well. These include dryness and irritation of the skin, which can be controlled with formulation changes and complementary therapies. The function of retinol in anti-aging regimens is also covered in this review, with a focus on how crucial it is to use the right formulation and concentration to optimize benefits and reduce side effects. The results highlight the necessity of customized strategies and additional investigation to maximize retinol's therapeutic potential in skincare.
