چکیده مقاله:

Caring for chronically mentally ill patients is a heavy and long-term task that places a significant psychological burden on caregivers. These caregivers are at high risk of developing mood disorders, especially depression, due to continuous exposure to stress resulting from heavy responsibilities and life restrictions. The prevalence of depression among caregivers of chronically mentally ill patients is very high, and this issue requires special attention. In a study conducted by Smith et al. (۲۰۱۸), it was found that about ۴۰% of caregivers suffer from moderate to severe depressive symptoms. This worrying statistic indicates the need to create support and treatment programs for this group of people. The aim of this study is to identify the severity of depression among caregivers of chronically mentally ill patients. The method of this study is a review. Conclusion: Long-term care of patients with chronic and severe mental disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline or paranoid personality disorders, and other psychotic disorders is considered one of the most stressful and exhausting human experiences.
