چکیده مقاله:

Pregnancy is one of the most sensitive periods in human life. Injuries to the fetus during pregnancy can be the basis for many physical and mental disorders in the later years of a person's life, so that the basis for many psychiatric disorders in adulthood is sought in the fetal period. The emergence and progression of symptoms of common mental illnesses during pregnancy is problematic and disrupts women's ability to accept the changes that occur following the birth of a child. Mental illnesses have an adverse effect on prenatal nutrition and care and pregnancy outcomes. If symptoms persist in the postpartum period, they will interfere with mother-infant contact and ultimately the child's behavioral and cognitive development. Due to the overlap between the symptoms of the disease and pregnancy symptoms, the diagnosis of some psychiatric disorders during pregnancy is difficult, and the treatment of severe comorbidity is more complicated due to the adverse effects of psychiatric medications on the fetus, newborn, and pregnant woman. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of psychiatric disorders in pregnant women. The method of this study is a review. Conclusion: The results show that effective intervention during pregnancy leads to the prevention of psychiatric manifestations in the postpartum period. The use of a screening strategy that emphasizes mood changes and recognition of mental disorders accelerates diagnosis. Therefore, prenatal visits are a good opportunity to use this strategy to determine symptoms early and treat them appropriately.
