چکیده مقاله:

Powder coating systems are gaining popularity due to their eco-friendly properties, lacking volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and offering superior efficiency over liquid coatings. UV-curable powder coatings enable curing of heat-sensitive substrates at lower temperatures, providing enhanced results compared to thermally cured systems. Recent research focuses on renewable raw materials for binder synthesis. UV curing, a rapid and environmentally friendly technique, ensures high curing speed and robust mechanical properties, protecting materials like wood, plastics, and metals. Photopolymerization, favored for its low cost and availability of monomers like acrylates and meth-acrylates, faces challenges from oxygen inhibition, reducing conversion rates and mechanical performance. Additives like amines, thiols, and silanes mitigate this by acting as hydrogen donors, with amines boosting conversion rates significantly, though potentially causing yellowing. High molecular weight polymeric photo-initiators (PPIs), categorized as linear, hyperbranched, or multifunctional, reduce migration and enhance photoinitiation. Innovations include silica-grafted thioxanthone and benzophenone-based photo-initiators, improving efficiency and mechanical properties.
