Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coatings are widely utilized in industrial applications due to their unique combination of chemical inertness, low friction, and thermal stability. However, understanding their mechanical performance is crucial for optimizing their use in demanding environments. This study focuses on assessing key mechanical properties of PTFE coatings, including hardness, adhesion strength, and wear resistance. Standardized mechanical tests such as microhardness measurements, pull-off adhesion tests, and abrasion resistance evaluations were conducted to characterize the coatings' performance. The results reveal that while PTFE exhibits excellent flexibility and low friction, its relatively low hardness may limit its durability under high-load conditions. Adhesion performance was found to be highly dependent on substrate preparation and coating techniques. Overall, the findings provide valuable insights into the mechanical behavior of PTFE coatings, offering guidance for improving their application in industries where mechanical reliability and surface integrity are critical.
