چکیده مقاله:

This study explores the development of a whiteboard coating composed of unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) integrated with silica (SiO۲) nanoparticles to improve the surface characteristics of the coating. UPR was selected for its rapid curing time, excellent adhesion properties, and solvent-free formulation, making it an environmentally sustainable option for coating applications. The incorporation of ۲ wt. % SiO۲ nanoparticles was found to significantly enhance the hydrophobicity and surface roughness, as evidenced by contact angle measurements. However, higher concentrations of SiO۲ nanoparticles led to agglomeration, which reduced their effectiveness in improving the surface properties. Cross-cut adhesion tests showed excellent adhesion (۵B) for all formulations, indicating strong bonding between the coating and substrate. The findings suggest that UPR-based coatings with optimized SiO۲ nanoparticle content offer enhanced erasability, durability, and overall performance. Further optimization of nanoparticle concentration and distribution could lead to coatings with superior functionality, making them a promising alternative for high-performance whiteboard applications, combining both enhanced efficiency and sustainability.
