چکیده مقاله:

Nature-inspired coatings, particularly those based on dopamine, have gained significant attention due to their strong adhesion, biocompatibility, and versatility. However, achieving precise control over dopamine polymerization remains a challenge, limiting its widespread application in surface engineering. This study investigates the influence of ultraviolet (UV) irradiation on dopamine polymerization to develop polydopamine (PDA) coatings with tailored properties on different substrates. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) analysis revealed that UV exposure significantly increases particle size, with PDA nanoparticles reaching ۱۴۶.۱ nm under UV irradiation compared to ۹۲ nm in non-UV conditions. Additionally, colorimetric analysis indicated that UV-assisted polymerization leads to coatings with lower lightness, suggesting altered surface chemistry. Contact angle measurements confirmed enhanced hydrophilicity, implying improved surface coverage and potential antibacterial properties. The ability to regulate PDA formation using UV light provides a simple and effective approach for controlling coating thickness and functional characteristics. These findings highlight the potential of UV-assisted polymerization in developing advanced coatings for biomedical, environmental, and industrial applications, where surface properties play a crucial role in performance.
