Study of Derivative of Reflectance Curves for Pearlescent Samples

Pearlescent pigments are special pigments that provide a pearly shine and color-changing effects depending on light and viewing angles, giving products a unique visual appeal. These pigments are widely used in various industries such as cosmetics, automotive coatings, and plastics which their test analyses when using only one pigment or the mixture of two pigment is an important issue. Current research focuses on improving the formulation of these coatings and studying the mixture of pearlescent pigments. A total of ۲۰ coatings were analyzed using gonio-spectrophotometer. The findings show that mixing pearlescent pigments follows additive mixing, allowing for the creation of coatings with highly diverse colors and effects. In addition, the analysis of the curves showed a significant change in the intensity of peak and valley of diagrams while changing the aspecular angle and pigment percentage of mono-pigmented and bi-pigmented samples.
