چکیده مقاله:

Bridges are built over rivers to access available areas. Bridge piers located on the river bed can change the river morphology. In mountainous regions, due to the effects of climate change, glaciers may melt, and ice fragments may accumulate upstream of the bridge pier, or freezing the river surface in very cold seasons may generate ice covering in the vicinity of the pier. This ice cover can affect the river morphology around the bridge pier. This research investigated this purpose by reviewing prior studies. The results show that the maximum scour depth of the bridge pier had a direct relationship with the densimetric Froude number, ice cover roughness ratio, and flow depth, and had an inverse relationship with the median sediment size. Also, increasing the ice cover submergence ratio increases the maximum scour depth. The increasing rate of maximum depth and volume of the scour increased by increasing the ice cover length.
