چکیده مقاله:

Rabies, a zoonotic disease caused by lyssaviruses, primarily the rabies virus (RABV), is a neglected tropical disease with a nearly ۱۰۰% case fatality rate once clinical signs appear. Transmitted primarily through the bite of infected animals, it poses a significant public health burden, particularly in developing countries. This review provides a comprehensive overview of rabies, encompassing its etiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment, prevention strategies, and the ongoing challenges in its control and elimination. The devastating impact of rabies on human health and the critical importance of sustained efforts towards its eradication are highlighted.
