چکیده مقاله:

This study investigates the effectiveness of immersive learning techniques employed by Rosetta Stone on English vocabulary acquisition among adult learners. Traditional vocabulary instruction often relies on rote memorization, which may hinder long-term retention. In contrast, immersive techniques engage learners in contextualized environments that facilitate deeper connections with vocabulary, enhancing both recall and practical usage. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design, the study involved ۶۰ non-native English speakers from Parsabad Islamic Azad University, randomly assigned to either an experimental group using Rosetta Stone or a control group following traditional vocabulary learning methods over ۱۲ weeks. Quantitative results indicated a significant improvement in vocabulary acquisition for the experimental group, with a mean post-test score of ۷۸.۴ compared to ۶۲.۳ for the control group (p < ۰.۰۰۱). The effect size for the experimental group was large (Cohen’s d = ۲.۲۷), highlighting the substantial impact of immersive techniques. Qualitative data further revealed that participants found the immersive experience enjoyable and motivating, leading to better retention and a positive shift in their attitudes towards language learning. These findings align with existing literature, which consistently reports enhanced vocabulary retention through immersive and contextualized learning methods. The study contributes to the discourse on effective language acquisition strategies in digital education, emphasizing the need for integrating immersive techniques into contemporary curricula. The insights gained may inform future instructional design and curriculum development, positioning immersive learning as a vital component of effective language education.
