چکیده مقاله:

This study investigates the effectiveness of cooperative learning as a creative instructional strategy in enhancing the academic achievement of elementary school students in mathematics and science. While traditional teacher-centered methods remain dominant in many educational systems, they often fail to foster meaningful learning, critical thinking, and long-term engagement. In contrast, cooperative learning emphasizes active participation, peer collaboration, and shared responsibility among students. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with fourth- and fifth-grade students in Tehran, using pre-tests and post-tests in both science and mathematics to measure academic progress. The experimental group received instruction through the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning method, while the control group followed traditional teaching methods. Results revealed that students in the cooperative learning group significantly outperformed their peers in the control group, with improvements observed across both genders and subject areas. The findings support the integration of cooperative and creative teaching approaches to promote deeper understanding, academic motivation, and social-emotional growth in elementary education.
