The Effect of Iran Health System Evolution Plan on Bahaman Faculty of Medical Sciences Hospitals’ Performance Indicators

Introduction: In order to adapt to the changing conditions and meet the needs of the society, health systems need continuous changes and reforms in their structure and performance, and subsequently they need to evaluate their indicators. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of the health system evolution plan on performance indicators. Materials and methods: The present study was a descriptive and analytical study that was conducted cross-sectionally using data from ۲۰۱۲ to ۲۰۱۴, i.e. the years before and after the implementation of the health system evolution plan. The statistical population of the research was all hospitals of Behbahan Faculty of Medical Sciences (۲ hospitals). Data analysis was done with paired t-test and Wilcoxon with SPSS version ۲۳ software. Results: After the evolution plan of the health system, all indicators were better than before and this improvement was significant in all cases. Only the average patient's stay increased slightly (۰.۰۵) after the implementation of the health evolution plan, although this increase was not statistically significant (P=۰.۸۳). Discussion and conclusion: The evolution plan of the health system has caused a positive change in the performance indicators of the hospital. Therefore, while paying attention to the continuous improvement of the current process, it is recommended to continue the implementation of the mentioned plan based on the results of this study.
