This study explores the development and application of biodegradable edible nanofilms enriched with antibacterial agents and fortified with vitamin D for cheese packaging. Using chitosan as the base polymer, the films were integrated with natural essential oils and green-synthesized silver nanoparticles to enhance antimicrobial activity. Additionally, vitamin D was incorporated to improve the nutritional value of the packaged cheese. The physicochemical, microbiological, and sensory properties of cheese samples wrapped with the nanofilms were evaluated over time. Results showed a significant reduction in microbial growth, improved preservation of texture and appearance, and increased vitamin D content in treated samples. This research highlights the potential of edible nanofilms as sustainable alternatives to plastic packaging, with added functional benefits for food safety and nutrition.
