Factors of Social and Economic Influence on the Emergence of Crime and Delinquency in Urban Society

This paper explores the social and economic factors influencing crime and delinquency in urban societies. Urban areas are particularly vulnerable to criminal activities due to factors such as poverty, unemployment, inadequate education, family dysfunction, and social disorganization. Social factors, including peer influence, family structure, and psychological trauma, interact with economic factors such as poverty, economic inequality, and unemployment to exacerbate crime rates. Through an analysis of criminological theories and empirical research, this paper highlights the complex relationship between these factors and their collective impact on urban crime. The study concludes that effective crime prevention requires comprehensive strategies targeting both social and economic disparities. Addressing educational deficits, strengthening family structures, providing economic opportunities, and improving social safety nets are essential steps for reducing crime in urban settings.
