Reactive power compensation has become essential for improving power quality in electrical networks. These systems are primarily designed for power factor correction and voltage regulation, employing two key modeling approaches: controlled reactive power sources and constant-voltage regulation devices. Accurate modeling requires careful analysis of network parameters, particularly for unbalanced loads, where precise calculation of Susceptance and Admittance for both loads and compensation systems is crucial. Such analysis enables reliable prediction of dynamic system behavior under various operating conditions. Real-time evaluation of system response to load variations is critical in compensation system design. These analyses determine the required power factor correction while revealing load-compensator interactions. Susceptance and Admittance-based studies using the Steinmetz method provide valuable insights into compensation mechanisms, with the ultimate goal of converting unbalanced three-phase loads into balanced configurations without disrupting active power flow. These principles form the foundation for advanced devices like STATCOMs, which offer rapid response to network fluctuations. Their practical applications are particularly significant in industrial environments with nonlinear and variable loads.
