چکیده مقاله:
Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) as a chronic and debilitating disease causes anxiety in the suffering person and leads to worry and tension in response to threatening conditions, and ultimately, results in decreasing quality of life. Consequently, it is highly critical to apply appropriate training interventions to mitigate the potential psychological consequences in such patients. One of the training methods is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which has been addressed in few studies. Therefore, this study was designed and implemented with the goal to survey the effect of ACT program on the quality of life, anxiety and depression in SLE suffering women in Tehran.
Material and Methods: The present study as a quasi-experiment was performed on ۳۰ SLE afflicted women dwelling in Tehran in ۲۰۲۴. The sampling method was convenient and the subjects were randomly allocated to two experimental and control groups (n=۱۵ in the experimental group and n=۱۵ in the control group). The data were collected by the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaires (WHOQOL-BREF) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), which were completed by the control and experimental groups before and two months after the intervention. After entering into SPSS-۲۷, the data were analyzed using Wilcoxon test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Fisher's exact test.
Results: The results from the Mann-Whitney test indicated that before the training intervention, no statistically significant difference was observed between the intervention and control groups in terms of the mean score of quality of life (p=۰.۹۴۵), depression (p=۰.۶۱۲), and anxiety (p=۰.۰۹۵), while after the training intervention, a significant difference was spotted between quality of life, depression, and anxiety (p<۰.۰۵).
Conclusion: The results of the present study demonstrated the positive effect of acceptance and commitment intervention in the lupus suffering women , the results of this study can probably be employed first for the patients themselves, then for their families, the countrywide medical universities, and the Ministry of Health, and can also provide information for designing and planning future interventions
