چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aims: With the rising elderly population and the increasing demand for care services, the Internet of Things (IoT) offers strong potential to improve their quality of life. This article examines its use in health monitoring, smart homes, and social connection, along with related challenges. Methods: This review study examined articles from electronic databases including PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Magiran, and SID, using keywords such as *Internet of Things* and *Elderly Health*, covering the period from ۲۰۰۰ to ۲۰۲۴. Results: The results of this study are structured into four main areas: remote health monitoring, smart homes, socio-psychological benefits, and existing challenges. In terms of health monitoring, IoT devices collect real-time physiological data, enabling continuous tracking of elderly health. Smart homes, through sensors and automated systems, create a safe and manageable environment that promotes elderly independence. Socially, IoT technologies such as social robots help reduce loneliness and improve psychological well-being by enhancing communication and interaction. However, challenges like data privacy and security, high implementation costs, complexity of use, and lack of standardization hinder widespread adoption. Addressing these challenges is essential for effectively utilizing IoT to enhance the quality of life for the elderly. Conclusion: A total of ۶۸ articles were identified in the initial search, of which ۳۵ full-text articles were thoroughly reviewed. The results indicate that the Internet of Things (IoT) has substantial potential to enhance the quality of life for the elderly by supporting independent living, real-time health monitoring, and increased social connectivity. However, concerns regarding privacy, data security, and technological complexity continue to pose significant barriers to widespread adoption.
