An Overview Of The Effectiveness Of Mobile-Based Education For Promoting Self-Care In Trauma Patients After Discharge

Background and Aims: Recent advancements in communication technologies have significantly contributed to the development of mobile health (mHealth), utilizing mobile computing and communication tools in healthcare and public health. This review study aims to explore and analyze mobile-based educational models for self-care among trauma patients. Methods: In this review, Persian-language databases, including the Scientific Information Database (SID), were searched using keywords such as trauma, mobile phone-based education, discharge, and self-care. Additionally, international databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar were explored using the keywords mobile, self-care, education, trauma, and digital health. Results: An initial search yielded ۱,۴۱۱ articles. After removing duplicates and irrelevant papers, ۷۰ studies remained. Based on a review of titles and abstracts and in accordance with inclusion criteria, ۱۱ articles were identified as relevant. These papers addressed topics such as mobile education, home care, discharge planning, and trauma management in both medical and interdisciplinary literature. Some relevant information was also extracted from Persian databases, especially the SID. Conclusion: Mobile-based education has emerged as an effective tool for enhancing self-care among discharged trauma patients. Moreover, it offers a promising solution for strengthening public health systems and advancing community health initiatives. This approach not only benefits patients but also reduces the burden on healthcare systems and contributes to cost-effectiveness. Therefore, the development and implementation of mobile-based educational programs should be prioritized by policymakers and healthcare providers.
