چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aims: With advancements in cancer treatment, the psychological and social well-being of adolescent cancer patients has garnered increased attention. This study investigates the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to enhance the self-concept of adolescents diagnosed with cancer. The objective is to identify cognitive and behavioral patterns related to self-concept and assess the impact of a combined AI-CBT intervention on psychological well-being and body image. Methods: A case study design was employed with ۱۵ adolescents undergoing chemotherapy at a specialized oncology center. Data were collected through the “Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS)” and semi-structured interviews to explore participants’ emotional and cognitive states before and after the intervention. A customized CBT protocol, including stress management and body image exercises, was developed and delivered over ۸ weeks. AI-driven photo lab software was integrated into the therapy to promote positive self-perception and body image. Results: While quantitative data suggested reductions in anxiety and depression scores after the intervention, qualitative findings were more striking. Participants reported feeling more confident in their appearance and interactions with peers, with many expressing a newfound sense of self-acceptance and emotional resilience. Interviews highlighted themes such as improved self-esteem, better coping with treatment-related stress, and a shift toward more positive thought patterns. In particular, the AI-integrated body image exercises were described as “uplifting” and “empowering” by several participants, fostering a sense of control over their self-concept. Conclusion: The integration of AI with CBT demonstrates promise in addressing the complex psychological needs of adolescent cancer patients. By combining modern technology with established therapeutic approaches, this study underscores the potential for innovative interventions to improve self-concept, emotional resilience, and overall quality of life in this population.
