چکیده :

Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse in which the perpetrator manipulates the victim into doubting their perception, memory, or reality. Initially coined in literature and popular cinema, this concept has become a critical subject in interpersonal, familial, and even organizational relationships. Unlike other types of psychological violence, gaslighting operates through a gradual and deceptive process that leads victims to distrust their cognitive abilities. This study, using a descriptive-analytical method, delves into the psychological roots of gaslighting, its various types, symptoms, and behavioral and cognitive consequences on victims. It also explores the influence of culture, gender, and power dynamics in the spread of this phenomenon. Finally, therapeutic strategies, emotional literacy, and social interventions are presented to aid prevention and recovery. The aim of this article is to raise awareness and equip readers with tools to recognize and resist gaslighting. This paper offers practical insights for counselors, psychologists, educators, and mental health policymakers.
