Crisis Plus One Theory- A Novel Interdisciplinary Framework for Understanding Social Sciences

The “Challenge Crisis Plus One” theory provides a novel framework for analyzing Iran’s underdevelopment. It posits that structural crises, exacerbated by performative processes termed washing concept, drive accelerated negative development. Rooted in the Constitutional Trauma of the 1906 revolution and contemporary manifestations like rent-seeking institutions, the theory advocates strengthening independent civil society. Its analytical lens extends to developing nations grappling with similar systemic inefficiencies, offering insights for global development studies.Hamidreza Safari developed this theory, inspired by Lembke’s Dopamine Nation and van der Kolk’s The Body Keeps the Score, alongside personal (school wall collapse) and social (war) trauma. He views washing concept as an addictive barrier to reform, akin to trauma-induced avoidance behaviors, and welcomes collaboration with Dr. Lembke and Dr. van der Kolk, with full integrity. The "Crisis Plus One" theory provides a novel framework for understanding inefficiencies in social sciences and development in Iran.
