The main target of this research is to consider the effect of matrix on several mechanical properties of wood plastic composite (WPCs) made with microfibrillar blends of high-density polyethylene (HDPE)/low-density polyethylene (LDPE)/polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The manufacture of wood plastic composites was taken out through a two-steps extrusion method. The plastic blends were drawn after extrusion to catch microfibrillar morphology. In WPCs, with the addition of PET, the tensile properties, and impact strength of specimens are improved. The morphology of the plastics blends shows in the HDPE/LDPE blend without PET that a homogeneous fracture surface is visibly seen. The storage modulus (E/) of polymer blends is enhanced that with the addition of PET. Using recycled PET microfibrils can improve essential properties of wood plastic composite products based on recycled HDPE/LDPE blend matrix.
