Solar energy offers significant opportunities for advancing sustainability in Iran’s petrochemical industry. With high solar irradiance across the country, technologies such as photovoltaics, concentrated solar power, and solar-assisted hydrogen production have demonstrated strong potential for reducing emissions and fossil fuel dependence. Several case studies confirm the feasibility and benefits of these applications, including improved energy efficiency and environmental performance. While economic and infrastructural challenges persist, strategic implementation of solar technologies can play a vital role in transforming petrochemical operations. This article examines practical applications, environmental impacts, and future prospects of solar energy integration in the sector.
