چکیده مقاله:
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are among the most notable technologies due to their diverse applications such as healthcare monitoring, smartphones, and military systems. Recently, research on Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs) has gained significant attention and now plays a vital role in patient monitoring. Due to power supply limitations, wireless nodes are typically organized into clusters to ensure energy-efficient communication. To achieve this, cluster-based and network-based approaches are commonly used. In the former, nodes are grouped into clusters where one sensor node is selected as the cluster head. In the latter, the network is divided into limited virtual networks, typically managed by the base station. This study proposes a novel approach for the optimal clustering of WBSNs based on a metaheuristic algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed method is then evaluated and compared with existing techniques. Simulation results show that the network lifetime is improved by at least ۷% compared to current methods.
