چکیده مقاله:
This paper examines the effectiveness of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy in treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related disorders. PTSD is a severe psychological condition that often arises after experiencing traumatic events, leading to persistent symptoms such as intrusive memories, hyperarousal, emotional numbing, and difficulties in daily functioning. Traditional treatment approaches typically focus on symptom management, often through methods like cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) or exposure therapy, but they may not fully address the underlying emotional wounds caused by trauma. IFS, developed by Richard Schwartz, offers a deeper and more integrative approach by targeting the internal parts of the self that are often fragmented or dissociated due to trauma. IFS therapy works by helping individuals recognize and reconnect with these fragmented parts, particularly the "exiles" that carry the emotional pain and memories of trauma. Through a compassionate and non-judgmental therapeutic process, IFS aims to heal these wounded parts, facilitating emotional release and reducing PTSD symptoms. This paper provides a comprehensive review of existing literature, highlighting the positive outcomes of IFS therapy in trauma recovery, especially for individuals with complex trauma, including childhood abuse or prolonged exposure to traumatic events. Despite these promising results, the paper also acknowledges the need for further empirical studies, particularly large-scale randomized controlled trials, to validate the long-term efficacy of IFS compared to other established PTSD treatments. The review concludes with recommendations for future research and enhanced therapist training to expand access to IFS therapy and further explore its potential in trauma healing.
