چکیده مقاله:

The rapid urbanization and scarcity of surface land have increased the reliance on underground infrastructure, such as tunnels, which are critical for modern transportation networks. However, seismic activity, particularly in regions with active faults, poses significant risks to these structures. This study investigates the interaction between reverse faulting and the Tabriz Metro Line ۲ tunnel, a critical urban infrastructure in a seismically active region of Iran. Using finite element modeling in ABAQUS, the research simulates a ۹.۱۸ m diameter tunnel subjected to fault movements at varying angles (۲۰°, ۴۰°, ۶۰°, ۸۰°). The analysis examines the elastic-plastic response of segmental tunnel linings under fault-induced forces, focusing on ground surface deformations and rupture propagation patterns. Results highlight the influence of fault angles on tunnel stability, offering insights into design strategies for enhancing the resilience of underground structures in fault zones.
