چکیده مقاله:
During the Sarpol-e Zahab earthquake, at least eight cities (Qasr-e Shirin, Ezgeleh, Salas-e Babajani, Gilan-e Gharb, Sarpol-e Zahab, Dalahu, Eslamabad-e Gharb, and Javanrud) and ۱,۹۳۰ villages were damaged. In this earthquake, ۱۲,۰۰۰ urban and rural residential units were completely destroyed, and ۱۵,۰۰۰ others required repairs. As a result, residential, commercial, and administrative buildings needed seismic retrofitting. Retrofitting buildings is a crucial yet costly process, and examining its details can be beneficial for application in other regions of the country, as well as for training young engineers. This article investigates the specifics of retrofitting steel-framed buildings. The study outlines various retrofitting stages, including: Exposure and demolition of structures, Column strengthening, Installation of gusset plates, Reinforcement around brace-connected beams, Bracing implementation, Local reinforcement of brace bases, Construction of non-structural walls. The article also includes practical images of the retrofitting process.
