چکیده مقاله:

This study used numerical modeling to investigate the effects of surcharge and kraft paper properties as a substitute for geogrids in mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls. Geogrid strips and kraft paper, which share similar mechanical properties, were employed to replicate geogrid behavior. Kraft paper was chosen as an economical alternative for small-scale testing. The research focused on the impact of geometric parameters (reinforcement width and length) and surcharge on MSE wall performance. The numerical results showed that reducing surcharge significantly reduced front and rear settlement. Additionally, variations in reinforcement dimensions influenced deflection, with increased reinforcement width reducing bottom node deflection, while changes in reinforcement length led to both increases and decreases in deflection.
