چکیده مقاله:

The use of energy dissipation systems such as dampers is one of the methods employed to transition from earthquake-damaged structures to structures with continuous functionality. The mechanical properties of viscoelastic dampers depend on displacement, loading rate, and temperature. In this study, to investigate the effect of loading speed on the hysteretic behavior of a cylindrical viscoelastic damper, a damper based on a chlorobutyl polymeric material was fabricated and subjected to loading at speeds of ۱۰ and ۲۰ mm/min. Two cylindrical dampers with viscoelastic material thicknesses of ۸ mm and ۵ mm were used to examine the effect of viscoelastic layer thickness on the hysteretic behavior of the damper under identical loading conditions. The results indicated that increasing the loading speed enhances the damping and load-bearing capacity. Furthermore, while reducing the thickness of the viscoelastic material does not cause significant changes in damping, it increases the load-bearing capacity.
