Seismic Evaluation and Retrofitting Schema of Reinforced Concrete Structures Based on TSDC ۲۰۱۸: A Case Study in Antalya, Turkey

Turkey is known to be one of the most active earthquake regions in the world. Therefore, the seismic performance of various construction systems is a vital topic not only for safety but also for the economy. Within the scope of the Turkish seismic design code (TSDC ۲۰۱۸), all of the existing buildings need to be evaluated. Two different calculation methods are represented as linear and non-linear methods for the seismic evaluation of the current buildings. In this study, a reinforced concrete building was examined based on TSDC ۲۰۱۸. This building was built in ۱۹۸۷ in Tekirove, Antalya, Turkey. Sta۴CAD programs were used to determine the performance of the building. Additionally, due to the architectural changes that will be made in the building, a comprehensive strengthening model has been prepared with the Sta۴CAD program, and recommendations for strengthening have been made based on the analysis of the analyzed reports. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that all the blocks in the building consisting of three blocks with two dilatation joints did not meet the target performance levels of the existing carrier systems. By employing the proposed model for retrofitting, the damage control level of TSDC ۲۰۱۸ was properly achieved.
