Online Teaching During the COVID-۱۹ Pandemic: EFL Lecturers' Perceptions in Focus

In ۲۰۱۹, the global spread of COVID-۱۹ led to the closure of schools and universities around the world. Due to this epidemic, universities were forced to conduct online activities. Therefore, this online system became a necessary part of maintaining the operations of schools and universities during the coronavirus epidemic. Education was affected in many different ways by COVID-۱۹. The present study was an attempt to investigate online teaching from the viewpoints of EFL lecturers. The participants in this survey were a sample of ۴۰ Iranian EFL lecturers who teach English at different branches of Islamic Azad University in Iran. They were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using an online questionnaire. The research method was descriptive. In fact, the quantitative data were obtained using a survey questionnaire. The data obtained from the questionnaire were presented in the form of tables and figures to show the viewpoints of EFL lecturers about online teaching. The results of the data analysis revealed that most Iranian EFL lecturers agree with online teaching and have positive viewpoints about it, supporting its use and continuity in the future. This study has both theoretical and practical implications for government officials and EFL teachers.
