چکیده مقاله:
Physical pain, impulsivity, and excessive distress are among the things that women with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) experience and suffer from periodically. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effects of the mindfulness training on pain intensity, impulsivity, and distress tolerance in female students with PMDD. A sample of ۳۲ female students with PMDD was randomly assigned to ۸ sessions during ۸ weeks as two group of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and the control group. The intensity of pain, measured by the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), impulsivity, measured by the Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-۱۱), distress tolerance, measured by the Distress Tolerance Scale (DTS), and PMDD was measured by Premenstrual Symptoms Screening Tool (PSST), and Diagnostic interview based on DSM-۵. The evaluations were pre-intervention, post-intervention, and ۳-month follow-up. MBSR was associated with significantly greater decreases in pain intensity with effect size (۰.۳۱۴), and impulsivity (۰.۶۵۱), and increase in distress tolerance in the participants (۰.۶۷۶). These results remained at the ۳-month follow-up and maintained their effect. The results suggest that ۸-week MBSR can effectively reduce pain intensity and impulsivity as increase in distress tolerancein the female students with PMDD, and its results can last at least ۳ months later.
