چکیده مقاله:

The object of the present study was to develop a finite element (FE) model of the human head. A detailed FE model of the human head was developed, including scalp, cortical and trabecular bone (skull), arachnoid mater, arachnoid trabeculae and CSF (subarachnoid space), pia mater, tentorium, falx, and the brain. Trabeculae are modeled between the arachnoid mater and the pia mater; furthermore, only-tension elements are used to well represent the trabeculae's tethering effect. Frontal impact toward a rigid surface was analyzed. The variation in intracranial stress and intracranial pressure were investigated. Results from simulations with the experiment model were compared with intracranial pressure-time recording from an available cadaver experiment data and a significant correlation was found between them. This model is recommended to be use for understanding of injury mechanism in short-duration impulse to build or optimize helmets.
