چکیده مقاله:

Fiber reinforced polymers (FRPs) are the most applicable materials for strengthening of structures. High tensile strength, high modulus of elasticity and low weight which resulted in the highest strength to weight ratio, is the best reason to choose this material for rehabilitation. The effect of FRPs on the compressive behaviour of columns is mainly due to increasing of confinement for the internal core of the column. Masonry is one of the weakest materials compared to other structural materials as concrete and steel and damage of masonry buildings during previous earthquakes in all of the world is the main cause of masonry elements rehabilitation. Masonry columns or other compressive elements in masonry buildings are the subject of this paper. For this purpose, the effect of FRPs on the compressive behaviour of small masonry columns are studied experimentally. Results are presented in the terms of load-displacement curves and energy dissipation. It can be concluded that ultimate strength and also failure strain of the specimens highly enhanced by adding FRP to the specimen.
